Position: Sheet Metal Mechanic & Welder

We are an Air Pollution Control Service Company that specifically focuses on Baghouse systems.Over the past 5 years we have established an additional sheet metal business that has tremendous growth opportunities. Our geographical focus is Southern Ontario.
We are looking for a Sheet Metal Mechanic for our Fabricating Shop and on our customer premises who like to be part of a growth opportunity.

Summery of work:

  • Exhaust Dust Systems of any description
  • Mist Collection Duct Systems
  • Complete Shop Fabrication of Dust Collectors complete with on-site installation
  • Fume Extraction Installations
  • Fabrication and Installation of Sound Enclosures
  • Fabrication and Installation of Fume Exhaust Hoods

Basic Qualifications:
No specific length of experience is required. However, you must be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities gained through training and /or experience to perform the duties described in this application.

WELL QUALIFIED: A well-qualified candidate will have experience in planning, laying out, constructing, and installing sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies. Experience will also include the ability to perform welding work.

Mechanical and Millwrighting experience

All tools and equipment are provided by the company
Steel-toed safety boots to be supplied by the application. A shoe allowance is given when shoes need to be replaced
Safety glasses/goggles; Gloves; Ear plugs; etc. are provided by the company

Areas of Specialization
Dust and fume collection systems; Custom sheet metal items; Miscellaneous industrial machinery repair

Welding techniques
Oxy-acetylene; ARC; gas tungsten ARC (GTWA) (TIG); Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG); Resistance or spot welding; Shielded metal ARC (SMAW)

Major Duties
Determine layout of systems; Measure and mark sheet metal according to template; Operate metal working machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal; Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces; Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification; Set up power equipment; Cut materials using Plasma Table; power tools or by hand; Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities.

Plan and lay out welding assignments from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.

Perform sheet metal mechanic duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations.
